In today’s World it is very easy to get carried away with technology, but technology for the sake of technology is not always the best way to go.

Used correctly, with the user at the heart of the design, the computer system will make life for the user much easier. Used incorrectly, the computer system will create resentment.

It is worth considering at this point why it is that a company or individual may wish to purchase a new computer system or software. The main reasons are to save time - do the job faster, or save money - do the job with fewer people, it can be both.

Considering the above it is therefore relatively easy to see that a poor implementation of a computer system could infact not save you time or money. In other words a very expensive mistake.

With over 17 years experience as a programmer, analyst and project leader on systems ranging from oil-rig construction to programming the Euro conversion software for a major US bank. I have seen many projects run well as well and many projects done badly and in certain cases had to tidy up the mess.

It seems to me that there is never enough time to do it once correctly, but always time to do it twice due to errors.
